We are looking for a Level Design Artist to create Hidden Object scenes on a brand new game at the Jam City Narrative Game division. Your role is to contribute to the game team by assembling together visual stunning levels that adhere to the best game design principles, thus creating engaging, story filled puzzles. You are equally an artist and a designer, with the ability to touch every aspect of the level pipeline.

In order to be considered, you MUST provide us with either a link to an online portfolio, website or a pdf showcasing recent artwork upon application, as well as be willing to work onโ€‘site, 5x week.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble captivating levels using existing assets.
  • Collaborate with designers and artists to ensure optimal quality.
  • Lit 3d scenes that are optimized for mobile devices.
  • Edit or create highโ€‘quality and optimized 3D environments and props.
  • Attend level preproduction meetings and propose environment, prop, camera and lighting ideas that consider design, art and narrative needs.
  • Work with your Art Lead and Art Director in establishing and maintaining the look of the project.
  • Present your work to the Design and Narrative leads and address any note or change of direction.
  • Playtest other peopleโ€™s levels and provide feedback to ensure a cohesive gameplay experience.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve visual issues with inโ€‘game environment assets and character environment interaction.
  • Identify and develop pipeline advantages, ensuring that assets are created in the most efficient way possible.
  • Interface with Lead Artist, Art Director, Producers, and other project leads on various issues and deadlines.
  • Identify and solve aesthetic and technical issues in the development process.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Perfect understanding of composition, color, value, and form as it relates to both classic art and gameplay visuals.
  • 3+ level design experience.
  • 3+ years of 3D game experience, with HIdden Object Game experience preferred.
  • Complete mastery of Unity Engine
  • Must have worked on at least one 3D game from conception to completion.
  • Great knowledge of Maya and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Rendering and realโ€‘time shader development awareness.
  • Experience with PBR materials.
  • Must understand 3D pipeline and process as it relates to game development and have experience partnering with other game team disciplines such as engineering and design.
  • Affinity for problemโ€‘solving and selfโ€‘reliance.
  • Art Degree or similar working experience.
  • Excellent grasp of the English language.
NICE TO HAVE
  • Strong 2D concept and illustration skills.
  • Shader creation experience in any shader graph tool.
  • Knowledge of Substance Painter.

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of jobโ€‘related factors, which may include education, training, experience, certifications, location, business needs, or market demands. This range is based on a fullโ€‘time position. This range may be modified in the future.
