Job description

Thompson Engineering has a full time opportunity for a Survey Party Chief. The Surveyor Party Chief oversees the survey crew in the daily responsibilities of the land surveying department. This position is responsible for reporting survey data to the Survey Team Manager. Ideal candidates would need to travel to support various project needs.

Duties:

  • Oversees the daily functions of the survey crew
  • Responsible for the set up and completion of the survey crew on job sites under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or job supervisor
  • Ensures the proper reporting of daily work logs to the Org Manager
  • Reduces survey data to the Org Manager
  • Interprets blueprints/plans/deeds in order to effectively lead the survey crew
  • Drives company vehicle to and from job sites
  • Operates all survey equipment and interprets data in order to report information to the Org Manager
  • Understand and compute field calculations relative to the survey data collected
  • Effectively manage the time and schedules of the survey crew
  • On time and consistent attendance is required

Minimum Requirements

  • Five (5) years verifiable experience in running a crew in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Be able to read and comprehend measurements.
  • Intermediate math skills which include trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others.
  • .Ability to travel and stay overnight based on the work load of the Survey Department

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 100% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a ladder.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites.
