Job description

Telecommunications Engineering Technician III
Clearance: U.S. Citizen with Secret clearance (minimum)
Location: Bluegrass Station, Lexington, KY (primary); travel to Ft Walton Beach, FL and Crestview, FL may be required
Position Summary:
The Telecommunications Engineering Technician III provides Tier 3 telecommunications support across the SOFSANet enterprise and associated sites. This senior-level role leads the design, analysis, and optimization of telecommunications networks, resolves complex infrastructure issues, and serves as the subject matter expert for enterprise telecommunications systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, implement, and provide Tier 3 telecommunications support across SOFSANet
  • Lead design and analysis of telecommunication networks
  • Create and maintain plans and drawings detailing the layout of routers, circuits, cables, switches, and other telecommunications equipment
  • Provide regular maintenance and ensure telecommunication devices function properly
  • Interact with contractor and Government staff, communicating complex technical issues clearly
  • Provide customer support for technical requests, process data to locate possible issues, and process voicemail and calling card requests
  • Configure and optimize telephone systems and services, voicemail, and PBX communication systems
  • Design, maintain, and assess current and future telecommunications systems and equipment
  • Detect, understand, and resolve complex network problems at the Tier 3 level
  • Ensure network connectivity for end users across all enterprise sites
  • Follow strict privacy regulations when reviewing telecommunication logs and accounts

Required Qualifications
  • At least 6 years of previous experience performing telecommunications engineering and support duties
  • In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, PBX systems, voicemail platforms, and telecommunications circuit design
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex telecommunications issues at the Tier 3 level
  • Experience supporting DoD or enterprise-scale telecommunications environments

Certification Requirements
  • DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for Network Operations Specialist (Work Role 441) - Intermediate Qualification Level

Travel
  • Minimal; primarily on-site at Lexington, KY
