Docket Clerk

Direct Counsel is seeking a Docket Clerk to join a premier law firm in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional with litigation calendaring experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting attorneys and legal teams through accurate docket and deadline management.

The ideal candidate will have prior law firm experience, strong knowledge of state and federal court deadlines, and experience maintaining litigation calendars and case management systems.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and manage firmwide litigation calendars and docketing systems
  • Review and process incoming documents, court notices, filings, and correspondence requiring calendaring
  • Calendar and track:
    • Discovery deadlines
    • Motion deadlines
    • Court hearings
    • Depositions
    • Trial dates
    • Pre-trial deadlines
    • Appeals deadlines
    • Other litigation-related events
  • Monitor compliance with court rules and procedural deadlines
  • Calculate deadlines pursuant to federal, state, and local court rules
  • Communicate deadlines and calendar updates to attorneys and legal staff
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all docketing entries
  • Assist with maintaining docketing procedures and best practices
  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff to support litigation matters
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years of law firm experience
  • Prior litigation docketing or calendaring experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • California state court rules
    • Federal court rules
    • Litigation deadlines and calendaring procedures
  • Experience using legal calendaring or docketing software
    • eDockets preferred
    • ProLaw, CompuLaw, or similar systems acceptable
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word skills
  • Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Reliable and professional work ethic
