Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description

This Civil Engineer role focuses on structural engineering analysis and design for steel structures and concrete foundations that support natural gas, hydrocarbon, and industrial facilities. You will lead projects, manage engineering deliverables, and oversee the development of 3D models and detailed drawings while ensuring all work complies with international, state, and industry codes and specifications. The position requires a strong technical foundation in civil and structural engineering, along with the ability to coordinate across disciplines and mentor other engineers and design staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering analysis and design for structural steel and concrete foundations in support of natural gas, hydrocarbon, and industrial facilities.
  • Review and sign engineering calculations as a Professional Engineer for structural steel and concrete designs, ensuring safety, compliance, and constructability.
  • Serve as lead project engineer, taking responsibility for project scope of work, budget, and schedule, and ensuring timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Manage and communicate scope changes effectively with project stakeholders and adjust plans and resources as needed.
  • Oversee the creation, management, and quality of 3D models and engineering drawings for concrete and structural steel systems.
  • Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, design drawings, technical documents, and engineering studies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain site, architectural, concrete, and structural steel drawings that are clear, compliant, and cost-effective.
  • Follow applicable international, state, and industry codes and specifications to produce safe, accurate, and compliant designs.
  • Coordinate and exchange technical information with other project discipline leads to ensure integrated, multidisciplinary solutions.
  • Collaborate and communicate technical information with clients, internal service groups, architects, owners, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Develop, train, and mentor engineers, drafting personnel, and design staff within the department to build technical capability and support career growth.
  • Use structural modeling and analysis software and 3D tools to support design and verification activities, as applicable.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, calculations, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Perform other engineering and project-related duties as assigned to support successful project execution.
Essential Skills
  • Professional Engineer (PE) capable of reviewing and signing structural steel and concrete engineering calculations.
  • Strong background in civil engineering with hands-on experience in steel structure and concrete design.
  • Thorough understanding of AISC, ACI 318, IBC, and ASCE 7 codes and standards.
  • Experience performing engineering analysis and design for structural steel and concrete foundations.
  • Ability to lead projects, including responsibility for scope of work, budget, and schedule.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing detailed engineering calculations, design drawings, technical documents, and engineering studies.
  • Working knowledge of 3D design tools and AutoCAD for developing and managing models and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam for drawing review, markup, and collaboration.
  • Working knowledge of STAAD structural modeling and analysis software (preferred).
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and related applications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate and exchange technical information with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate structural performance, code compliance, and design options.
  • Experience in civil and structural engineering within industrial environments such as natural gas, hydrocarbon, or heavy manufacturing facilities (natural gas preferred).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Derwent, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.08/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
