Job description

Summary
We are seeking a Project Architect with a proven track record to join our Cary, North Carolina team. The successful candidate will work directly with our clients and internal teams on projects of all scales. Primary responsibilities will include leading the design and planning process for multi-faceted production facilities and directing and overseeing the production and coordination of architectural deliverables for projects. The ideal candidate has a strong architectural background in biotech/biopharma and/or R&D laboratory design. The Project Architect will report to the Architecture Department Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Execute site master planning, lab design, program and URS development, concept, schematic, and design development phases of projects.
  • Position requires commitment to adhering to project timelines, budgets, project efficiency, and identifying, managing, and tracking project changes.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with clients, senior project managers and in-house engineering disciplines.
  • Capable of leading project teams through the overall design and documentation process for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong abilities with marketing and to maintain relationships with clients.
  • Provide architectural design for varied projects and client base, include exterior and interior upfits.
  • Strong design, technical, and communication skills (both visually & verbally) are essential.
  • Direct, oversee and participate in the production of construction documentation including specifications.
  • Work with clients, contractors, and local officials to coordinate construction issues.
  • Perform and coordinate Life Safety analysis and fire protection code reviews with EHS/fire protection team.

Skills & Qualifications
  • B. Arch./M.Arch degree required.
  • 8-10+ years of experience, in a professional services consulting firm with project operations experience.
  • Commercial/Biotech/Life Sciences and/or R&D laboratory design experience preferred.
  • Architectural license and NCARB registration preferred/not required.
  • Must have strong capability to illustrate design concepts to clients and/or internal team members.
  • LEED Accredited Professional credential and/or experience on LEED certified projects preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Good report and technical writing skills a requirement with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of Autodesk Revit, Enscape/Lumion, Adobe Suite, and Bluebeam.
  • Demonstrating good interpersonal skills, attentive and approachable.
  • Maintains a professional and productive relationship with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to inspire teams and develop relationships with co-workers to meet internal deadlines.
  • Positive attitude, even when under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and productive work style.
  • Flexible and willing to assist with multiple tasks.
