The Phoenix office of SmithGroup is looking for a Junior Interior Designer to join our Corporate, Commercial, and Civic team.
Working with us, you will:
  • Assist with space planning, test fits, and programming exercises for commercial tenant improvement projects.
  • Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction document packages.
  • Develop interior elevations, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, and furniture layouts.
  • Support the production of construction document packages using Revit, and other design software.
  • Conduct site measurements and document existing conditions.
  • Coordinate design intent with architectural, MEP, structural, and consultant teams.
  • Research and specify interior finishes, materials, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
  • Create finish boards, material palettes, and digital presentations.
  • Participate in client meetings, design presentations, and project coordination meetings.
  • Conduct site visits and field observations during construction.
  • Assist with reviewing shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and finish samples.
  • Support punch walks and project closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure design intent is achieved.

An ideal candidate has:
  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience.
  • LEED AP preferred. Architectural or Interior Design registration preferred.
  • Experience in Revit and AutoCAD with 3-D modeling capabilities.
  • Familiarity with building codes, ADA requirements, and life safety standards.
  • Experience with SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, or similar visualization software.
