Product Manager - (Contract until March 31, 2027)


The Product Manager resides at the intersection of business, service design, and technology. Responsible for product outcomes, they own thedigital strategybehind a product, or a suite of products, for an organization. Including the development and delivery, specifying functional requirements, managingfeature releases. This individual provides clear and focused leadership to successfully execute and advance digital products in support of the strategic goals of the organization. Contributes to maximizing the technology investment in support of the organizations Digital Transformation Strategy.

This position reports to the Product Lead and works closely with the key business functions to deliver on the suite products in support of the organizations Digital Transformation Strategy & strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize and manage the backlog for Mitacs+ while collaborating with the Product Lead, Service Design and Operational Excellence team
  • Work with business stakeholders across the company to understand their business, operational, and system requirements. Design and deliver innovative solutions and frictionless experience to address those needs.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Mitacs+, power platforms and powerapps to support the development of new features and improvement of existing functionality
  • Develop deep internal and external process and workflow knowledge including program requirements to support key strategic product decisions.
  • Identify and outline areas within Mitacs+ to capture analytics and track product performance, product adoption and other key business metrics.
  • Throughout the product development lifecycle, represents the needs of both end user and internal stakeholders, evaluate market trends, emerging technologies, assesses whats needed to stay competitive, and uses this information to determine what features to build.
  • Ensures focused collaboration and promotes cohesiveness between all the members of the team and stakeholders while fostering Agile culture.
  • Manages product portfolio, and release management, and effectively refines the backlog through feature prioritization, and estimates delivery timelines
  • Prioritizes and drives consensus across multiple stakeholder group.
  • Translates stakeholder needs to Agile Teams and vendors through Use Stories and prototypes.
  • Responsible for coordinating the various activities across the software development lifecycle associated with ensuring that the delivered product meets users' needs and provides value to our clients.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience working as a Product Manager or similar within technology.
  • Extensive stakeholder management experience across multiple organization disciplines. Strong desire to take ownership of a set of new products and features
  • Motivational leader that can inspire productivity and teamwork within a product team
  • Strong understanding & working experience of business systems, and the business and operational needs of Mitacs and its product offerings
  • Drive to design something new, be innovative
  • Prior experience collaborating with designers in defining Client Experience (CX) and User Interface (UI)
  • Experience working with development and cross functional technology teams, especially customer facing web applications
  • Familiarity with best practices around the software development lifecycle including building, testing, and releasing
  • Solid background in software development and agile methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superlative collaboration mindset, through managing prior cross-functional teams without a necessary direct reporting line
  • Highly skilled at issue resolution and task prioritization.
  • Demonstrated personal accountability to manage workload and achieve results that meet agreed Product objectives
  • Do-what-it-takes attitude
