Job description
Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. (MEUS) is the largest U.S. operating company within the Americas of its global parent, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. As part of the Corporate Strategic Planning and Development (CSPD) organization, MEUS is establishing a new enterprise-wide Business Intelligence (BI) capability to enhance decision-making, improve business performance, and accelerate data-driven transformation across the organization.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning and Development, the Director of Business Intelligence will architect, launch, and lead this critical function. Serving MEUS and select Mitsubishi Electric organizations throughout the Americas, this leader will act as a trusted strategic advisor and internal corporate finance consultant, partnering with executive leadership and business units to identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges, and deliver actionable insights that drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
A key focus of this role is establishing and governing the organization's AI-enabled analytics capabilities, leveraging Microsoft Copilot and other emerging technologies to enhance forecasting, decision-making, reporting, and operational efficiency. The Director will establish the vision, governance framework, and organizational capabilities necessary to build a modern Business Intelligence function while overseeing enterprise reporting, performance management, and advanced analytics initiatives. Success in this role requires deep expertise in finance, accounting, business analytics, emerging technologies, and organizational leadership.
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
Build and Lead the Enterprise Business Intelligence Function:
- Establish and lead a centralized Business Intelligence and Strategic Finance function that delivers enterprise-wide analytical capabilities across MEUS and affiliated organizations throughout the Americas.
- Define the function's vision, operating model, governance framework, methodologies, and performance standards to ensure scalable and sustainable delivery.
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team of business intelligence and analytics professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and service excellence.
- Partner with executive leadership to define analytical priorities, allocate resources, and align BI initiatives with organizational objectives.
- Drive enterprise adoption of data-driven decision-making by establishing best practices, standards, and analytical capabilities across diverse business units.
- Serve as an executive sponsor for enterprise analytics initiatives, promoting alignment around key performance metrics, reporting standards, and business insights.
Lead AI, Automation, and Data Strategy:
- Leverage Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled technologies to design, implement, and scale analytical solutions and business processes across the organization.
- Lead the development and deployment of AI-enabled solutions, including Copilot, agentic workflows, predictive forecasting models, self-service analytics platforms, and automated reporting capabilities.
- Establish data quality standards that support integrity, reliability, security, and responsible use of data and AI-driven insights.
- Identify emerging technologies and analytical methodologies that create competitive advantages and measurable business value.
- Oversee enterprise initiatives that reduce manual processes, improve productivity, and increase organizational agility through automation and advanced analytics.
- Drive the adoption of innovative tools and technologies that enhance business intelligence capabilities and organizational effectiveness.
Serve as an Internal Corporate-Finance Consultant:
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership and business unit leaders to identify strategic opportunities, evaluate performance drivers, and address complex business challenges.
- Lead consultative engagements that transform business questions into analytical frameworks, actionable insights, and data-driven recommendations.
- Proactively identify risks, opportunities, trends, and performance gaps, delivering recommendations that support growth, profitability, and long-term competitiveness.
- Influence strategic decision-making through clear communication of analytical findings, business implications, and recommended actions.
- Establish trusted advisor relationships throughout the enterprise while fostering a customer-focused approach to internal consulting and decision support.
Lead Enterprise Performance Reporting:
- Establish and oversee the enterprise performance reporting framework, ensuring consistency, transparency, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Direct the development and continuous enhancement of executive dashboards, operational scorecards, forecasting tools, and management reporting processes.
- Synthesize complex financial and operational information into clear business narratives, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
- Lead continuous improvement of reporting processes through automation, standardization, and the elimination of low-value activities.
- Ensure leadership has timely, accurate, and actionable information to support critical business decisions.
Lead Strategic Finance, Forecasting, and Business Planning:
- Direct enterprise-wide forecasting, scenario planning, and performance analysis activities that support strategic planning and resource allocation decisions.
- Lead analytical initiatives related to growth strategy, capital deployment, pricing optimization, cost management, mergers and acquisitions, and operational performance.
- Challenge assumptions, evaluate business unit forecasts, and provide independent perspectives that improve forecast accuracy and decision-making rigor.
- Develop advanced planning and forecasting capabilities, including predictive analytics and rolling forecasts, to improve organizational responsiveness and agility.
- Provide executive leadership with forward-looking insights regarding market conditions, business performance, strategic alternatives, and investment opportunities.
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field required.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), strategic finance, business intelligence, analytics, consulting, or related fields.
- One or more of the following certifications is preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Demonstrated experience building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
- Proven experience establishing, scaling, or transforming enterprise analytics, business intelligence, strategic finance, or performance management capabilities.
- Strong consulting and client-service orientation, with experience diagnosing business challenges and delivering actionable recommendations to executive stakeholders.
- Deep expertise in finance and accounting, including financial statement analysis, forecasting, budgeting, performance management, and strategic planning.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide transformation initiatives involving business intelligence, analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, or digital technologies.
- Experience designing and deploying AI-enabled solutions, including Copilot, agentic workflows, predictive analytics, automation platforms, and modern data environments.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, technology, or diversified multinational organizations preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities across financial, operational, commercial, and market data.
- Strong executive presence with outstanding communication, presentation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex analyses into clear and actionable business recommendations.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence outcomes across multiple business units.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining a strategic enterprise perspective.
- Demonstrated commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
What Success Looks Like
- A scalable, enterprise-wide Business Intelligence function is established and recognized as a trusted strategic partner across MEUS and Mitsubishi Electric organizations throughout the Americas.
- Executive leadership consistently relies on BI-generated insights and reporting to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- AI-enabled tools, automation, and advanced analytics are successfully deployed and widely adopted, improving forecasting accuracy, productivity, and speed to insight.
- A high-performing team delivers innovative analytical solutions that create measurable business value and drive enterprise performance.
- Enterprise reporting becomes standardized, automated, and focused on actionable insights rather than data aggregation.
- Business units actively seek partnership with the Business Intelligence function to support performance improvement, growth initiatives, and strategic decision-making.
- Best practices, tools, and capabilities developed within MEUS are leveraged across Mitsubishi Electric organizations globally.
