Job description

BillionToOne is seeking an FP&A Intern to support our Finance team over a 10-week summer engagement. This role offers a hands-on immersion into corporate financial planning and analysis-giving you real-world exposure to the modeling, reporting, and strategic thinking that powers a high-growth, publicly traded biotech. You will be trained to perform the core functions of a junior financial analyst, working directly alongside senior finance leaders on projects that directly inform company decision-making. This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days per week on-site at our Menlo Park, CA headquarters.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, including variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and prior periods.
  • Analyze revenue, operating expenses, and headcount data to surface actionable business insights for senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and data visualizations to track key financial and operational metrics.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and scenario modeling to support strategic initiatives and business cases.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve FP&A processes, templates, and workflows.

Qualifications:ย ย 

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or an equivalent analytical discipline; rising juniors and seniors strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and formula-driven analysis; experience with financial planning tools (e.g., Planful, Adaptive Insights, or similar) is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to distill complex financial data into concise summaries for non-finance audiences.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity about the business-eager to understand the 'why' behind the numbers, not just the mechanics.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) or SQL is a plus but not required.
