Note: This role requires regular onsite presence to fulfill essential job responsibilities.
As a System Power and Perf Engineer, you will be responsible for measurements and analysis of OEM in-chassis notebook products at the silicon/SoC level and platform level on both Intel and competitor platforms. The role will be a mix of both competitive analysis as well as helping improve Intel platforms. Based on your technical knowledge and analysis of both Intel and the competition, your data will help influence OEM customers, internal marketing teams, internal engineering teams, debug silicon/platform on PnP issues, and be an integral part for Intel product launches.
This role is for Santa Clara on-site everyday (no remote/no hybrid option).
Core responsibilities to include following:
- Measure, analyze, and debug workloads on OEM notebook/laptop systems to be used for internal analysis and external communications.
- Measure and analyze SoC/CPU and platform power on a rail by rail basis and debug any issues/gaps
- Understand and analyze power and performance workload behaviors and help tune for future platforms
- Be able to setup instrumented OEM systems to measure power and performance on a rail by rail basis (including setup, calibration, and measurements)
- Work with internal engineering teams/architects to understand the gaps between internal Intel silicon/SoC data vs. Intel OEM implementations
- Work with internal engineering teams to align on competitive analysis of power and performance and support competitive projections.
- Help guide, educate, and influence internal engineering teams, field account teams, and marketing teams on power and performance positioning of Intel products

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master's (BS/MS) in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or relevant experience
- Understanding of power measurement/instrumentation methodologies and concepts.
- 1 year of basic soldering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master's (BS/MS) in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science with 2-4 years of experience
- Understanding of power measurement/instrumentation methodologies and concepts. Actual device/system (phones, tablets, or laptops) instrumentation experience
- Expert level micro soldering experience
- Understanding of standard benchmarks and ability to analyze power and performance
- Familiarity with industry benchmarks is a plus (ie SPEC, Speedometer, Cinebench, Geekbench, Procyon, MobileMark, 3DMark, etc)
- Strong knowledge of CPU micro-architecture (knowledge of x86 or ARM CPU uarch)
- Prior experience in a post-silicon engineering environment
- Attention to detail and ability to analyze data for accuracy/trends
- Motivated self-learner/self-starter and ability to quickly adapt to changes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Experience developing customized content for a technical audience
