We are seeking an Engineering Manager (Integrations Platform) to join Zions Bancorporation. The Engineering Manager will lead and manage a dynamic engineering team, overseeing the design, development, and implementation of business initiatives and technologies across the department and broader organization. This Engineering Manager acts as a player-coach, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on technical contributions, and serves as the primary contact for projects requiring technical resources. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, soundness, and compliance of developed products, while driving organizational effectiveness and efficiency by delivering against strategic objectives


Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the engineering team, providing guidance and support for professional development

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of business initiatives, enterprise full-stack applications, user interfaces, APIs, and integrations designed to eliminate manual efforts.

  • Act as a player‑coach, contributing technically to codebases, solution designs, and code reviews while managing team performance and project delivery.

  • Own and advance a clear technology vision, maintaining documented current and target-state architectures and executing disciplined technical debt reduction roadmaps.

  • Drive the adoption of modern delivery practices, ensuring CI/CD, automated testing, progressive deployment, and DevSecOps controls are baseline operational standards.

  • Cultivate a team culture of psychological safety, high ownership, and accountability, mitigating single points of failure (SPOFs) through cross‑training across front‑end and back‑end stacks.

  • Ensure the safety, soundness, and compliance of developed products with internal security policies, risk controls, and banking regulations.

  • Create and manage department/area budgets, ensuring adherence to financial processes and deadlines.

  • Responsible for hiring, performance management, and addressing performance gaps proactively.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience within engineering disciplines with a strong history of technical leadership, supervision, or management. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

  • Experience managing and contributing to backend architectures built with Java, Python, or Node.js.

  • Experience managing and building modern frontend user interfaces with React technologies.

  • Experience in designing, developing, and securing RESTful services, SOAP-based services, and system integrations.

  • In-depth experience managing systems deployed to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, or AWS) utilizing Kubernetes, containerized environments, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).

  • Advanced knowledge across the DevOps lifecycle, with hands‑on experience enforcing automated security scanning, vulnerability checks, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience utilizing and managing engineering teams that leverage agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex) to optimize productivity.

  • Demonstrated ability to present to and engage senior IT and business executives with credibility and effective cross‑functional communication.

This position is fully in office (5 days a week) at the Zions Technology Center - 7860 South Bingham Junction Blvd, Midvale, UT 84047
