What are some common challenges faced by an integrations manager when coordinating cross-departmental projects?

As an Integrations Manager, one of the main challenges is aligning the priorities and timelines of multiple departments, such as IT, product, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of systems or platforms. Navigating different communication styles and technical expertise levels can require strong interpersonal and project management skills. Additionally, managing unexpected technical issues or data compatibility problems often requires creative problem-solving and the ability to adapt quickly to changes. Successful Integrations Managers proactively address these challenges by establishing clear communication channels, setting realistic expectations, and fostering collaborative relationships across teams.

What is an integrations manager?

An Integrations Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing the process of connecting different software systems, platforms, or applications within an organization. Their main goal is to ensure that disparate systems work together seamlessly, facilitating efficient data flow and business processes. They often coordinate with IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to plan, implement, and troubleshoot integrations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to communicate across departments.

Job description

Overview

At KPMG in Canada, our people bring their unique perspectives to Canada’s most important challenges. Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.

As a Manager in SAP S/4HANA Finance Public Cloud, you will lead the Finance workstream on cloud ERP transformations, owning solution direction, workstream governance, and stakeholder outcomes. You will guide Fit-to-Standard decisions, manage cross-stream dependencies (SD/MM, data, integrations), and oversee end-to-end delivery from design through deployment and post-go-live stabilization.

What you will do
  • Lead Finance Fit-to-Standard workshops and drive alignment to SAP leading practices and process standardization within clean-core constraints.
  • Own Finance workstream delivery execution from design through deployment and early-life stabilization; manage scope, plan, RAID, and quality outcomes.
  • Produce and govern core deliverables including solution designs, configuration rationale, test artifacts, cutover plans, deployment readiness materials, and training support.
  • Oversee Finance configuration approach in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud using CBC/SSCUI and approved scope items; ensure design decisions are documented and adhered to.
  • Partner with integration and data teams to plan interfaces, validate data migration readiness, and support controlled movement of data across environments.
  • Lead integrated testing across unit, system integration, and UAT – leveraging test automation where applicable – and ensure requirements traceability through scenarios, defects, fixes, and sign-off.
  • Help clients strengthen ERP controls, audit readiness, and compliance by embedding controls into design, testing, cutover, and post-production processes from the start.
  • Coordinate deployment and go-live readiness activities, including cutover planning, issue resolution, training support, and early-life stabilization.
  • Provide executive-level client communication, decision support, and escalation management; build trusted-advisor relationships with Finance leadership.
  • Coach and develop team members; support practice growth through knowledge sharing and contribution to proposals and estimations.

What you bring to the role
  • 8+ years of SAP Finance experience with leadership on at least three full lifecycle SAP S/4HANA program Public Cloud.
  • Demonstrated workstream leadership across finance domains (R2R, close, intercompany, AP/AR) including integrated design decisions.
  • Proven governance capability: planning, RAID management, dependency management, and quality assurance of core implementation deliverables.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and drive fit-to-standard adoption and clean-core decisions.
  • Experience leading integrated testing, cutover readiness, and go-live/hypercare stabilization.
  • Proficiency with SAP Activate delivery approach and tools (e.g., DDA/CALM), and configuration approaches in SAP Public Cloud (CBC/SSCUI).
  • Strong communication and executive presence; able to translate complex SAP topics into business impacts and decisions.
