Position Overview
The Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics at our organization is on the lookout for a Division Chief to spearhead and expand a well-respected genetics program. This role presents a significant opportunity for professional growth and leadership within an academic medical institution recognized for its excellence in clinical care, education, and collaborative practices.
Role Responsibilities
The Division Chief will be responsible for overseeing the strategic, clinical, educational, and research objectives of the Division. This position will collaborate closely with faculty and specialists from the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of OB/GYN - Maternal-Fetal Medicine to deliver integrated genetics services throughout various life stages.
Current Team Composition
- A clinical geneticist/cytogeneticist (current chief, continuing in a remote capacity)
- A Medical Biochemical Geneticist (specializing in Metabolic Disorders)
- Four Genetic Counselors
- A Genetic Nurse Practitioner
- A Genetic Physician Assistant
- A Genetics Registered Nurse
- A Dietitian
Key Duties
- Deliver direct patient care across various services, including:
- General Genetics/Dysmorphology (for both adults and children)
- Prenatal and Cancer Genetics
- Pharmacogenetics
- Inborn Errors of Metabolism
- Newborn Screening Follow-Up
- Lead and execute strategic goals, clinical programs, and protocols
- Represent the Division in departmental and institutional leadership meetings
- Promote best practices in:
- Clinical genetics and counseling
- Diagnostic interpretation
- Genomic medicine and emerging technologies
- Encourage collaboration with subspecialties such as neonatology, cardiology, neurology, and oncology
