POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide support to patients with mental health issues.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for monitoring and treatment of patients.

Conducted chart audits and administered medication per treatment protocol

Assisted with patient intake, including insurance authorization, medical assessment, and notification of providers.

Assisted in the behavioral management of patients, which included verbal redirection and active listening.

Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.

Implements crisis intervention measures when indicated to escalate and control aggressive patients.

Prepares equipment and aids physicians during the treatment and examinations of patients.

Functions as a role model to reinforce the development of adaptive behaviors.

Directs therapeutic milieu and provides supportive individual, group, and family therapy.

Utilizes psychotherapeutic intervention to assist patients in regaining or improving their nervous coping abilities and prevent further disability.

Utilizes activities of daily living in a goal-oriented way to foster adequate self-care and physical and mental well-being.

Provides appropriate level of patient education to improve patients' level of understanding regarding illness, treatments, patient rights and responsibilities, and acquisition of adaptive coping behaviors.

Maximizes the security and safety of units. Provides special attention/monitoring of those patients at risk for suicidal attempts or elopements.

Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess the patient's condition.

May rotate among various clinical services of the institution.
