Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intake Department. If you're passionate about behavioral health and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Our hospital provides inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents, adults, and senior adults in a peaceful 22-acre campus in Garland, Texas. We are committed to delivering exceptional patient care while fostering hope, healing, and recovery for every individual we serve.
Position Summary
As an Intake Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a critical role in coordinating patient admissions, conducting behavioral health assessments, and ensuring a smooth intake process for patients and referral sources. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
This role includes both admission coordination and direct clinical patient care, with approximately 85% of your time dedicated to patient assessments and treatment activities.
Responsibilities
Admissions & Intake
  • Receive and respond to referral and inquiry calls.
  • Gather patient demographic and clinical information.
  • Coordinate behavioral health assessments and admissions.
  • Communicate with physicians, referral sources, and internal departments.
  • Initiate insurance verification and assist with pre-certification processes.
  • Obtain necessary Releases of Information (ROI) and medical records.
  • Coordinate patient placement and discharge planning with community resources.
  • Maintain accurate admission documentation, call logs, and reporting data.
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review, Business Office, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Conduct behavioral health assessments and nursing evaluations.
  • Provide direct patient care and nursing interventions.
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and supervision.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adult and geriatric populations.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health crises.
Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas (required)
  • Experience in behavioral health nursing, psychiatric assessment, or inpatient behavioral health
  • One (1) year of experience in an acute behavioral health setting preferred
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform routine physical movements.
  • Manual dexterity to operate clinical and office equipment.
  • Ability to maintain composure and make sound clinical decisions during emergency or high-stress situations.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and sensory awareness to safely perform patient care duties.
