Description

The Intake & Distribution Coordinator position will coordinate the distribution of food. The position will work with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Food Shelf Supervisor to have volunteer assistance when necessary. The position advocates for federal nutrition programs and gathers and disseminates information for reporting and planning needs.


This role is responsible for coordinating intake utilizing Pantrysoft to gather pertinent information on demographics and vital community action statistical information. This position will generate periodic reports on numbers of households and individuals served. They will provide surveys to gather information on anti-poverty issues such as housing, transportation and nutrition and participate in Food Security Network meetings and collaborative efforts with other hunger relief organizations. This role provides flexible operational support for food distribution activities, including food handling, stocking, unloading, and driving coverage as needed within the CVOEO service area. The position also requires maintaining clean and organized work areas, as well as a welcoming environment for Food Shelf visitors.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree in an appropriate discipline and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience from which community service, advocacy and counseling skills or capacity are required. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of food stamp eligibility preferred to provide outreach assistance.
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Familiarity with services of other community social services and their eligibility requirements.
  • A willingness to learn about the issues facing economically disadvantaged, low-income, and multi- cultural/ethnically diverse populations is needed.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills - bilingual abilities a plus.
  • This position requires strong organizational skills plus basic administrative skills
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter able to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications, including databases, email and internet-based tools.
  • Ability to work pleasantly and effectively with the public, staff, volunteers, and organizations.
  • Ability to work in a sometimes stressful work environment.
  • Creative and resourceful with an ability to work within a setting that is constantly in a state of change.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, access to reliable transportation, and willingness and ability to travel extensively within CVOEO's service area.
