To thrive in an insurance role, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of insurance products, often supported by a relevant degree or insurance-specific certifications such as CPCU or CLU. Familiarity with policy management software, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and underwriting tools is commonly required. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset help professionals build trust and effectively address client needs. These competencies are vital for ensuring accurate policy management, regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality client service in a competitive industry.

You can work with businesses who specialize in handling premium audits, risk management, or business process outsourcing, but most available positions are with insurance companies. You can choose a field based on the type of insurance you’re most familiar with such as workers’ compensation, car, home, or life insurance, or choose a company that works with all insurance types. Some positions require working on the phone, while others require traveling within an assigned geographic area.

Become a Vital Support in Someone’s Life as a Personal Support Worker with Senior Helpers

Every day brings an opportunity to make a profound difference. At Senior Helpers, our Personal Support Workers help our clients live safely and independently in their homes — and bring peace of mind to families. We’ll match your strengths and interests to clients who will benefit from your dedication and care.

If you’re a compassionate professional with a heart for helping others, ready to grow and develop in your career, we invite you to apply for our PSW role today!

What to Expect in Your Day-to-Day

As a Personal Support Worker, your work will include:

  • Engaging in meaningful conversation and building genuine relationships with clients
  • Assisting clients with daily living activities: mobility support, dressing, bathing, and personal hygiene
  • Preparing nutritious meals and assisting with feeding or meal routines as needed
  • Helping with light housekeeping tasks and supporting clients to maintain a comfortable home environment
  • Observing and reporting on changes in clients’ physical, mental and behavioural health; completing documentation of care activities

Why Choose Senior Helpers?

We believe in supporting our team members just as much as our clients. Here’s how we stand out:

  • Certified Great Place to Work® – We’re committed to fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Professional Growth & Training – We provide on-going training to expand your skills and advance your career in home care.
  • Flexible Scheduling – We understand life isn’t one-size-fits-all; we work with your availability to find shifts that work for you.
  • Team-Based Support – You’ll be part of a strong, caring team dedicated to your success.
  • Meaningful Impact – You’ll have a frontline role in enhancing clients’ quality of life and giving families peace of mind.

Qualifications We’re Looking For

To be considered, you should have:

  • A genuine passion for providing care and support to others
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-centred mindset
  • Availability to work non-traditional hours, such as early morning, evenings, and alternate weekends
  • A valid driver’s license (G or G2 Classification), access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of automobile insurance
  • To protect our patients, we require current vulnerable sector check screening, a clear background check
  • Previous experience in home care or a PSW role is an asset (though we welcome motivated newcomers)
