Job Summary

Job Shift: Rotate

Job Type: Per Diem

The Procedural Scheduler (Level 1) is responsible for scheduling patients for surgical services. The position has significant communication requirements with the practice offices. The job requires excellent communication skills to build collegial relationships with surgeons, patients and staff. The position may also require assisting with other areas ( i.e. charges) key to the continuity of patient care. May be assigned other secretarial duties as needed.

Responsibilities

1. Communicates with hospital leadership team regarding scheduling issues. Communicates special equipment, instrument, supply, anesthesia and staffing request to the team. Communicates with physician offices to confirm cases and determine any changes that should take place.

2. Schedules clinical procedures, including scheduling the correct procedure, site and supplies. Obtains and enters all necessary information from the physician office including diagnosis, equipment needs, and duration of treatment, insurance eligibility, requests for date and time of procedure.

3. Maintains high productivity and performs efficiently. Appropriately prioritizes work activities. Responds to difficult situations with self-control and a positive attitude. Assists other employees with other duties as required.

4. Validates credentials of providers. Works with directors and managers to manage block time as applicable. Communicates open time and future availability to physicians’ offices
