Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property & Casualty Underwriter to evaluate, underwrite, and manage commercial auto accounts This role focuses on risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management while maintaining strong relationships with brokers, agents, and internal teams. The ideal candidate has strong P&C knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to make sound underwriting decisions for a profitable book of business
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, underwrite, and manage commercial P&C accounts, including reviewing submissions, assessing exposures, and recommending terms and pricing
  • Analyze loss history, financials, and risk profiles to make informed underwriting decisions
  • Apply company underwriting guidelines, actuarial information, and industry best practices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders
  • Manage renewals and new business submissions, ensuring proper documentation and approvals
  • Monitor portfolio performance and market trends to inform underwriting strategy
  • Collaborate with claims, actuarial, finance, and risk teams to align underwriting strategy with overall business objectives
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, state regulations, and industry standards.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve underwriting processes and portfolio profitability

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field
  • 5+ years of P&C underwriting experience
  • Strong understanding of Property & Casualty insurance principles and risk evaluation
  • Experience managing commercial accounts and making sound underwriting decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and underwriting systems

Preferred:
  • Commercial Auto experience
  • CPCU designation or actively pursuing professional insurance credentials
  • Experience with middle-market or broker-facing accounts
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
