Job description

Training and Employee Development Manager
Plans, directs, and manages employee development and technical training programs for the Animal Production Department under broad supervision. Provides strategic leadership for production training initiatives by coordinating technical instruction, standardizing processes, and reducing variation in training and job performance. Enhances workforce knowledge and capabilities through the effective use of classroom instruction and internal/external training resources, supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • 4 year related degree or equivalent work experience of 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Bilingualism in Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Proven training skills relative to the adult learner.
  • Certified or willing to become certified (within one year of employment) in Swine Breeding and Farrowing departments.
  • Willing to travel, as needed.
  • Willingness to work weekends/evenings when necessary.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees employment development to ensure adequate programs are in place to meet the needs of the company.
  • Manages the training function by developing and implementing a strategic training vision and structure to support all divisions of the company.
  • Coordinate technical training programs and drive continuous improvement through the delivery of internal training and the utilization of external educational resources.
  • Standardize operational processes by developing process documentation, creating flowcharts, and implementing new policies and procedures.
  • Delivers, monitors, and evaluates training programs, such as Train-the-Trainer, Interpersonal Skills, Effective Manager, and various ad-hoc courses as requested by the company.
  • Train basic introductory and Unit 1 tasks, with all new employees, prior to entering the farm.
  • Provide support for managers and team leaders as needed.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate employee training feedback and performance data to support continuous improvement and employee development initiatives.
  • Coordinate educational events to expose people to production and support services.
  • Assess ongoing organizational training needs, develop annual training plans, schedule courses, and maintain accurate employee training records and databases.
  • Coordinate and/or create Training information to include, but not limited to breeding and farrowing manuals, nursery and finisher manuals, farm maps, and vaccination charts.
  • Develop and train team leaders to strengthen technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and training effectiveness.
  • Responsible for development of departmental budgets and monitoring costs related to training.
  • Collaborate with HR and department mangers to identify talent development opportunities and support career growth initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in training and development.
  • Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Murphy Family Ventures LLC subscribes.
  • Reports all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
  • Reads and understands the companyโ€™s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by management.
