Job description

At Layup Parts, our mission is simple: deliver composite parts faster. We're not just another composites shop-we're a technology-first manufacturing startup building the next generation of manufacturing software and automation for aerospace and defense. Our customers are developing tomorrow's high-tech products, and we are building technology to accelerate their success.

We are looking for highly motivated Software Engineers to join our team as key members of our growing engineering function.  This is a high-impact role that presents a unique opportunity to make decisions that shape the technical trajectory of Layup. You are an ideal candidate if you are looking to join an exceptional team and play a significant role in the growth and success of an early-stage startup. We can hire at various levels and need both frontend and backend skillsets. It's also ok to be more frontend or backend leaning.

What you will do:
  • Build and expand our proprietary Factory Operating System, the software platform that orchestrates production from quote to shipment.

  • Develop interfaces and integrations for manufacturing equipment, capturing real-time production data and turning it into actionable insights.

  • Implement features for our customer portal, creating a seamless experience from project submission through delivery.

  • Create internal tools that automate workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and increase manufacturing throughput.

  • Partner closely with manufacturing, operations, and production teams to solve real-world problems through software.

  • Mentor teammates and help foster a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For:
  • Be awesome! Be the kind of person you want to work with!

  • 4+ years professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and a bias toward building reliable, maintainable software.

  • Ability to drive projects single handedly without much guidance or input.

  • Experience in startups or small teams in fast-paced and quickly changing environments.

  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.

Preferred:
  • Experience with Go, Typescript or Rust.

  • Experience working with manufacturing systems, industrial automation, MES, ERP, or machine integrations.

  • Experience designing software related to 3D part representations or manipulation in a CAD/CAM program or similar.

  • Familiarity with customer facing software applications.

  • Understanding of mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes, or composite part production.

$130,000 - $200,000 a year
Final compensation is based on your experience, skills, and what you bring to the table.
