Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer Level IV to join our dynamic team in CO Springs, CO. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned software development professional, responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale, high-performance software systems. As a Level IV Software Engineer, you will lead technical initiatives, mentor junior team members, drive innovation, and ensure the delivery of scalable, robust, and efficient solutions that meet the mission objectives of the United States Space Force (USSF).
This role requires excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work in a collaborative, agile environment.

Qualifications
Required:
  • BS Degree w 8-10 years' experience; MS with 6-8 years' experience or PhD with 3-5 years' experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development, engineering, or a related role.
  • Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance.

Technical Expertise:
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, or similar).
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and tools for building scalable, distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and ORM frameworks.
  • Expertise in software design patterns, microservices architecture, and distributed system design.

Problem-Solving and Algorithmic Thinking:
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills.
  • Ability to design efficient algorithms, data structures, and performance-optimized code.
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Experience working in a collaborative Agile development environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions effectively to diverse audiences.

Leadership Skills:
  • Proven experience mentoring junior engineers and leading small teams or technical initiatives.
  • Ability to independently drive projects or lead a team through significant technical challenges and milestones.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Advanced knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, pytest).
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms, AI systems, or big data processing is a plus.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation.
