Title of the Position: Paralegal/Docket

We are Pappas Hayden Westberg & Jackson PC, a Law Firm in Overland Park, KS, and we are seeking candidates to join our Docket Team. Our Docket Support and Paralegal professionals are responsible for monitoring cases filed by the firm, in Missouri, Kansas and Colorado to ensure that the attorneys appear at court dockets and that the appropriate paperwork is filed for each case.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Corresponding with courts, attorneys, and defendants’ attorneys
  • Drafting, reviewing, and printing documents ordered by docket paralegals for attorneys
  • Mailing of documents to consumers, defendants, attorneys, and courts
  • Updating files with information from attorneys and court correspondence
  • Organizing, assembling, and copying documents for business records affidavits and mailing assembled business record affidavits to the courts
  • Efiling documents with Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado courts, using the court websites
  • Drafting motions
  • Assigning inside counsel or when needed hiring local corresponding attorneys to attend court appearances
  • Using a database/ legal case management system to document hearing results and calendar court appearances
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
  • Qualifications
  • Consumer credit, foreclosure, and bankruptcy experience strongly preferred
  • Paralegal certification is a plus
  • Outstanding customer engagement skills with high level of enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, active listening, and complex problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, goaloriented team environment while ensuring compliance with all company, client, state and federal regulations
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing business needs
  • Strict attention to detail and the ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload
  • Maintain calm demeanor when confronted with difficult situations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer equipment and systems including MS Office, strong data entry typing skills, ability to complete skip tracing, and other internet research
