Double E Company is a multi-national manufacturing/engineering company that produces highly engineered web handling components as well as innovative, electromechanical material handling for the paper, film, and foil industries.


Position Summary:

The Operations Manager will have overall responsibility for our Portland, ME operations, our fastest growing business unit today. This site produces highly engineered components for paper, film and foil industry, as well as material handling systems for a broad set of markets. The Operations Manager position directly supervises the machine shop lead, the assembly department lead, shipping/receiving, along with indirect responsibility for all Production department personnel. This position requires a hands-on leader, who spends most of their time on the production floor leading, supporting, and mentoring their team of approximately 15 people. This role requires a leader who can successfully develop and implement a plant-level continuous improvement program to drive higher performance across Safety, Quality, On Time Delivery, and Cost; with emphasis in utilizing Lean Transformation and Six Sigma principles. This talented Operations Manager will develop and execute plans for capacity expansion and automation investments needed to meet the company’s growth strategy and achieve world class operational status.

Conveniently located at 108 Industrial Way, 5 miles from downtown Portland ME and 6 miles from the Portland jetport.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all assigned employees.
  • Champion overall site safety for the Portland facility.
  • Maintain a “safety first” culture through employee awareness, operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain proper training, and fulfillment of OSHA and company compliance requirements.
  • Coach and mentor through feedback, performance management and development planning to build team capabilities and drive employee productivity and engagement.
  • Identify training needs for personnel and initiate or approve programs to improve skill levels.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding monthly KPI targets:
  • Safety

  • On-Time Delivery
  • Cost/ Efficiency
  • Inventory Management
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement program
  • Key stakeholder in new product development ideation, prioritization, design for manufacturing, and execution of market launch
  • Work collaboratively with the Engineering department to ensure products meet final quality requirements, drive root cause analysis and implement any necessary corrective actions.
  • Promote synergy across all functions of the business.
  • Develop strong relationships across Double E sites in order to facilitate information exchange and building “One Team” cultur
  • Collaborate with Human Resource to establish recruiting, training and hiring strategies, including succession planning and career paths.



Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus but may consider experience in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated Leadership ability.
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
  • Must possess clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the corporation.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP software such as Info Visual, Infor Syteline, Epicor Vantage, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to understand, analyze and act on financial data.
  • Ability to create and manage metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Knowledge, background, and certification in six sigma and lean methodologies, principals, and concepts preferred.
