Encova Insurance is currently seeking a Developer for our Charleston, West Virginia, or Columbus, Ohio location. This is a hybrid opportunity and we are open to hiring at the Developer I level based on qualifications and experience.

This position reports to the Director, Technology & Product Delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrate continued technical skill growth.
  • Learn and apply code standards within a primary technical domain. Demonstrate continued growth in the use of developer environment tools, ancillary software tools and technology.
  • Demonstrate continued knowledge growth on the application(s) you are assigned.
  • Participate in team meetings and project scrum meetings.
  • Learn and demonstrate development and administrative processes and procedures.
  • Write, test and document code needed to implement approved requests for changes.
  • Test and debug new or modified code to verify its accuracy and completeness. Great at communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist peers in root cause analysis of production incidents.
  • Develop a true understanding of your role and how it impacts the team, division and company.
  • Understand how your attitude impacts the company and how your actions contribute to the overall success of the company.
  • Through project work and daily interactions, continue to develop understanding of what success means to you, your team and your customers.
  • Grow your general insurance knowledge.
  • Consistently engage in behaviors that produce great experiences and outcomes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • BS/BA or greater in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Must possess a general understanding of technical skills, programming languages and tools used by the company.
  • Logical thinking in making decisions, completing work tasks and solving problems.
  • Ability to achieve continuous improvement in your technical and business acumen skillset.
  • Must possess good written communication skills.
