Position Overview
AKIVA is seeking a Senior Application Programmer to support a state government claims tracking and management system in Louisiana. You will design, develop, and maintain production-grade applications supporting claims processing, data management, and reporting for a state agency. This role spans the full application lifecyclefrom requirements analysis through deployment and production supportdelivering secure, scalable, and auditable solutions. As an AKIVA team member, you will have access to AI-powered development tools and agentic systems that accelerate coding, testing, and deployment workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain application systems supporting claims tracking and management operations
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and working solutions
Build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and validation of claims data
Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise platforms using REST APIs, SQL Server, and secure file transfer protocols
Support production dashboards, automation scripts, and scheduled processes
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance and data processing workflows
Contribute to DevOps and deployment practices including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure management
Ensure solutions comply with state data security, governance, and audit requirements
Document systems, workflows, and application behavior to support compliance and operational continuity
Leverage AI-powered development tools provided by AKIVA to accelerate coding, testing, and deployment
Required Qualifications
5+ years of software engineering or application development experience
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL (SQL Server preferred)
Experience designing and building production-grade web applications or enterprise systems
Experience working with REST APIs and integrated enterprise platforms
Familiarity with cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS, or equivalent)
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies
Experience with data processing, ETL workflows, and reporting systems
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and manage deliverables in a government environment
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
