This position will support PMPL Claims in the timely assignment of all new claims handled by the Personal Lines, Marine, Transportation and Property teams. This position is responsible for triaging and distributing new claims to the appropriate manager and/or specialists within the PMPL claims division. Triaging of new claims includes identifying catastrophic claims, reviewing provided facts and/or obtaining additional facts from the reporting party, reviewing necessary policy coverage and evaluating the severity of the damages to complete the claims assignment to the appropriate claims specialist.

Responsibilities

Complete assigned daily claims support activities timely and accurately, including but not limited to: triaging, assigning, and routing of new claims to various teams within PMPL claims department according to established.

Maintain understanding of departmental service standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures.

Look for ways to improve efficiencies and minimize processing and workflow issues. Share that information with team and management.

Effectively work in a team environment. Participate in projects and testing initiatives.

Display flexibility to support evolving department and business needs.

Promptly communicate with PMPL Segmentation/Triage Manager on claim trend developments and provide information on pertinent issues affecting the lines of business

Requirements

At least 1 year of Insurance claims experience in Property, Transportation, Marine, or Liability.

Comfortable with high volume workloads, multiple priorities, and productivity standards

Flexibility to work outside the normal business hours, including holidays and weekends when necessary

Strong PC skills, especially in Word, Excel, Outlook and paperless working environment

Ability to learn multiple claim systems required for role/Working knowledge of Markel's claim systems a plus

Strong skills in verbal and written communication, analysis and problem solving, organization and time management

Ability to analyze insurance policy to determine available coverage for proper claim routing

Ability to evaluate summarized information to determine policy coverage, liability involvement, and severity of damage to determine proper claim routing

Excellent customer service skills

Self-directed and highly productive with minimal supervision

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

High School diploma or equivalent is required

The hourly rate offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The national average hourly range for the Associate Claims Analyst is $25.11/hr- $34.52/hr with 10% incentive.
