About the Position:


Our team of experienced desk adjusters are the best of the best when it comes to handling homeowner property claims. In this role you will act as the liaison between Swyfft's policy holders and vendors by providing a fast and friendly claims experience. A "Swyfft" mindset equals happier policy holders.


Our ideal candidate has previous experience adjusting homeowner claims across multiple states, and has the ability to interpret policy language and make educated coverage decisions. You are a proactive, team player who enjoys collaboration, sharing ideas, and understands the importance of a good documented claim file. (hint, hint)

*This position is a 100% remote U.S. based opportunity that can be based in one of the following states only: AL, AZ, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

Some travel for day-to-day work, team meetings, and training will be required.

Key Responsibilities: (What you'll be asked to do)

  • Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of liability concerning first party homeowner property losses and damages.
  • Effectively communicate with policyholders, agents, and service providers via phone, email, and internal systems to accurately document claim details.
  • Successfully manage a pending claim load at varying stages of the claims process.
  • Interpret and apply the details of an insurance policy to ensure the accuracy of payments and claims declinations.
  • Interpret and apply computer generated loss estimates, engineer's reports, and construction terminology.
  • Update and maintain comprehensive claim handling notations in our electronic claims management system and other related applications.

The Successful Candidate: (What we're looking for)

  • Ensure that all assigned claims are resolved timely, reserved accurately, and handled fairly and in compliance with company guidelines.
  • You come to us with a proven track record of handling claims and homeowner property losses. Previous field adjusting and/or construction experience is extremely valuable to us.
  • You have a solid technical background that includes an excellent understanding (and hands-on experience) in loss estimating, homeowner policy coverages and construction.
  • You're comfortable working in a metrics driven claims environment.
  • Both internal (your peers) and external clients commend your excellent communication and follow up skills.
  • You're detail oriented, organized, and can multi-task like nothing anyone has ever seen before.
  • You're a get the job done, self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • HAAG Certification is a plus.


Some Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a desk adjuster in the homeowner/property industry. Adjusting all perils (Plumbing (water mitigation), theft, vandalism, wind, hail, and fire.
  • Understanding of various policies and how to evaluate and apply appropriate coverage.
  • Comfortable with contractors and vendors to resolve claims efficiently and within the policy provisions.
  • Experience conducting recorded statements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including drafting professional letters and e-mails.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and deescalate difficult situations.
  • Proficient in handling complex claims with loss values up to $100K.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required.

Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office and other internal insurance related programs, systems or applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using programs such as Slack & MS Teams. You are comfortable sharing screens and video chatting.
  • Previous experience using claims management systems and Cotality.


Certifications or Licensing Required:

  • You are currently licensed or eligible for licensing as an adjuster in the states of: TX, FL, NY, NC, SC and LA (we can provide assistance with your licensing fees) NY license will be required.


Other:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connectivity required.
  • Designated quiet work from home space.

Compensation for this position will vary based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Base compensation does not include bonuses or other incentives that the company may choose to pay at its sole discretion.
