Job description

This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Capital Access in Birmingham, AL, Herndon, VA, El Paso, TX, Citrus Heights, CA, Fresno, CA and Santa Ana, CA. The incumbent(s) serves as a Loan Specialist in one of the Commercial Loan Service Centers or National Guaranty Purchase Center and is responsible for performing servicing, purchase, or liquidation activities.Qualifications:GS-09: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:
  1. performing servicing, purchasing, and/or liquidation of consumer and commercial loans; and
  2. analyzing, evaluating and identifying financial management problems and recommending appropriate action.

Education Substitution for Specialized Experience (GS-9):
2 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
OR
Master's degree (or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D. as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) directly related to the position (e.g. finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology). Education must be in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
OR
A combination of education and experience. For example, 1 full year (18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours) of graduate-level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.
