Job Opening: Insurance Billing Specialist

Job Description

West Texas Pediatric Dentistry is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and experienced Insurance Billing Specialist to join our growing practice. This vital role is integral to the smooth operation of our financial services, ensuring that both patient and insurance billing are handled with precision and care. This is a Full-Time position located in our office in West Texas. Please note that this is not a remote job, and the selected candidate will be expected to work from the office during regular business hours.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a proven track record in medical or dental insurance billing, a detailed understanding of dental insurance policies, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Our practice is dedicated to providing exceptional dental care to children in a warm and welcoming environment, and the Insurance Billing Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining the seamless operation of our billing and insurance processes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information necessary for successful claim submission.
  • Submit billing data to insurance providers.
  • Work with dental assistants to ensure correct coding for insurance claims.
  • Monitor and record late payments and follow up on missed payments.
  • Process insurance claims and ensure that payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on insurance claims and ensure that payments are applied properly.
  • Appeal denied claims as needed, providing additional information and documentation to reverse denial decisions.
  • Post insurance payments promptly and accurately to patient accounts.
  • Notify patients of outstanding balances and work with them to facilitate payments.
  • Maintain and update billing system with rate changes, new procedures, etc.
  • Work closely with the front office team to ensure proper billing and collection procedures are followed.
  • Prepare and send detailed billing reports to the practice manager.
  • Respond to billing and insurance questions from both patients and staff.
  • Identify and resolve billing complaints promptly.
  • Train new staff on billing procedures and practices as needed.
Requirements
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience as an Insurance Billing Specialist in a medical or dental setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • High school diploma required; further education in Medical Billing or related field preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to send claims, appeal denied claims, post insurance payments, notify patients of outstanding balances and collect outstanding balances effectively.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work closely with a team, especially the front office team, to ensure that proper billing actions are consistently applied.
