Job description

This position will fulfill an Adjuster role in or around the counties of Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston, Steuben, Allegany and surrounding areas. The Property Adjuster will inspect and investigate first and third-party claims to determine the circumstances of the claim. Evaluating the claim for appropriate coverage under the policy. They negotiate settlements within the proper authority levels. Generating reports that clearly document the investigation, evaluation and negotiation phases of the claim adjustment process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain appropriate and timely file reserves.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate and timely diary system for assigned case load.
  • Ensure adherence to all pertinent Regulation 64 rules and other claim handling laws and regulations.
  • Make contacts and schedule inspections.
  • Construct, track, and accurately report monthly mileage and expense reports.
  • Document all phase of the claims’ adjustment process.
  • Inspect, analyze, and investigate 1st and 3rd party claims to real property, including the following:
    • Regularly lift, walk, climb, stand, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach, climb ladders or crawl into tight spaces.
    • Regularly sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and assigned work equipment. Regularly drive a car and sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
    • Climb ladders, navigate uneven or broken ground, accessing cellars, attics and entering structures and work in confined space.
    • Carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Take pictures of damages.
  • Negotiate settlement within authority levels.
  • Write estimates of cost to repair.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage loss adjustment expenses.
  • Provide efficient, prompt, courteous service and communication to internal business partners and external customers regarding investigation and resolution of property/commercial claims
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; focuses on solving conflict.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid NYS Driver's License
  • Qualified to take NYS General Adjusters License examination and obtain a passing result on the examination.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Good reading, writing, documentation, mathematical skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, other software and similar tools.
  • Basic understanding of insurance, accounting, etc.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Good listening, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Basic understanding of the construction trades.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical tools and electronic equipment used to investigate property damages.
  • Aptitude to grasp new concepts and processes.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret entry level technical information including engineer’s reports, contractor’s estimates, remediation reports and policies to determine applicable coverage.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

Market Range: 8E / 40 hours per week / Hybrid- On the road

Salary: $62,353.20 - $87,954
