Description

Position Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the bank's accounting and financial reporting functions. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, assists with reconciliations, and helps maintain compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in supporting the finance team to maintain the financial integrity of the bank.


Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.

Reconcile general ledger account and bank statements.

Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing supporting schedules and reports.

Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Monitor and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.

Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.

Ensure compliance with banking regulations, accounting principles, and internal policies.

Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Respond to accounting inquiries from internal departments and support financial reporting needs.

Monitor third-party investment activity, public funds, and pledging requirements; prepare and mail monthly statements for public fund entities


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting OR 5+ years with relevant experience.

Previous experience in accounting, preferably in banking or financial services.

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical ability.

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
