Job description

Overview:

TheFinancial ReportingConsultant supportsthe growth of Securian's Individual Life and Individual Annuity businessesthrough theirleadership in financial reporting. As Individual Solutions expands its affiliate reinsurance strategy through Securian Re, this position will help shape and support the financial infrastructure needed to manage increasingly complex products, entities, and accounting frameworks.

This role willisresponsible for thereinsurance and product accounting across statutory, GAAP, and Bermuda economic accounting bases. This role will partneracrossfinance, actuarial, and business teams to deliveraccuratereporting, meaningful financial insights, and strong operational governance. The position offers a unique opportunity tobuild for our future growthandinform business management.

Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Determineaccounting treatment forIndividualSolutionsproductsand reinsurance structures, includingstatutory, GAAP, and Bermuda accounting bases.

  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules for monthly and quarterly reporting.

  • Validate and testaccountingsystem results;develop proceduresand controlsto ensureaccuratefinancial reporting.

  • Support reporting across multiplelegalentities, including Minnesota Life, Securian Life, and Securian Re.

Financial Analysis & Planning

  • Analyze financial results and key business drivers across products, entities, and accounting lenses.

  • Supportgoals andplansactivitiesforIndividual Solutions and Securian Re.

  • Provideinsightstoleadershiponprofitability, capital efficiency, and business performance.

Audit, Governance & Process Improvement

  • Support audits, regulatory reviews, and communications with auditors, examiners, and rating agencies.

  • Maintain strong documentation, controls, and accounting governance practices.

  • Identifyand implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Participate in strategic projects and initiatives related to Securian Re, including future deals.

Qualifications:

  • Accounting experience with exposure to statutory, management-based, tax and GAAP for financial reporting and budgeting.

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Math).

  • Demonstrated analytical skills to review and analyze financial statements.

  • Ability to communicate and work with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of insurance accounting concepts and products, including individual life and individual annuities.

  • Reinsurance accounting experience.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:
