Responsibilities

This position is a Hybrid role based out of our Birmingham, AL location. 

The Accounting Supervisor directs and supervises all activities and personnel in the Cash Accounting department.

  • Manage, develop and mentor team to enhance their performance, development and work product including goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Assist in the creation/maintenance of an “achievement” team culture—customer-focused, proactive communication and dissemination of information, career/goal development for team, focus on team-building, recognition of team efforts/accomplishments, etc.
  • Review cash reconciliations prepared by the team and provide effective feedback as appropriate.
  • Address problems with work quality, issues between teammates and other concerns in an effective, timely manner
  • Develop, implement and maintain processes and procedures for accurate and timely analysis of financial data, ensuring best practices
  • Investigate root cause and communicate reconciliation variances and issues found in balance sheet accounts to upper management on a timely basis
  • Effectively analyze data to identify focus areas
  • Identify process opportunities and serve as subject matter expert on related projects
  • Structure and lead projects
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to align expectations and partner on the delivery of cash reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Work closely with facility personnel, department leaders and team members, assisting with any accounting/financial questions or needs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 4-5 years of experience in accounting role
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Understanding of accounting principles, including debits/credits, standard account reconciliations
