Job description

Sterling Search Partners is helping a growing client with their search for an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting the organization's financial goals. This role supervises accounting staff, manages month-end and year-end closing processes, and provides financial insights to support business decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting principles, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Develop, implement, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness.
  • Prepare tax reports and support tax filings in collaboration with external advisors.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Collaborate with management to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of financial information.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA required.
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
