Position Brand Description:

The Industrial Electrician has the responsibility of servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment within the Lilly Technology Center manufacturing site that includes instrumentation, electrical, high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol, city water, and sewers. Responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations across all utility locations, while collaborating with and supporting multiple maintenance crafts to meet operational and maintenance objectives.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on medium voltage electrical equipment (13.8KV main switch gear, circuit breakers, relays, motor starters, ground fault interrupts).
  • Perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment (motor control centers, variable-speed drives, programmable logic controllers, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical equipment problems and make appropriate repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Perform modifications and new installations of electrical equipment (e.g., conduit, conductors, lighting, branch circuits, etc.).
  • Diagnose complex electrical problems to effect repairs and restore equipment/systems to operating condition.
  • Perform preventative/corrective maintenance and calibration, modifications and new installations on process instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, pH, conductivity, TOC, control valves, etc.)
  • Demonstrate the ability to read P&ID drawings.
  • Consistently comply with safety rules and closely follow approved procedures to ensure cGMP compliance.
  • Document all work by following Good Documentation Practices.

Basic Requirements:

  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.
  • Experience maintaining equipment in an industrial utilities environment. Familiarity with any of the following is an advantage: high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol.
  • Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to respond to call-ins and work scheduled overtime is necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds is required.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to varying temperatures while performing duties outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is mandatory.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Associate's degree, Technical Certificate in an electrical discipline, or equivalent industrial electrical experience; military electrical training accepted. Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems (4.16kV preferred).
  • Experience performing and troubleshooting electrical maintenance equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, prints, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of safe maintenance practices, work procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency using CMMS software (e.g., Maximo) for work order management and maintenance tracking. Microsoft Applications Knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple skilled trades and supporting cross-functional maintenance activities.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Additional Information:

  • This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
  • Temporary shift changes may occur.
  • Hazardous operations within Utilities include exposure to acid, steam, caustic substances, high pressure, and high temperatures.
  • Personal protective equipment is required at all times.
  • Work involves awkward positions, cramped quarters, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Employment requires working during summer and year-end company breaks.
