Group Fitness Instructor  


Make a Difference Through Fitness & Wellness 

Cottonwood Heights Parks & Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Group Fitness Instructor to lead safe, engaging, and inclusive fitness classes for participants of all ages and fitness levels.

Special Working Conditions: Non-seasonal, part-time, non-benefitted staff. 

Schedule: Flexible scheduling, early mornings,?including weekdays and weekends, based on program needs and instructor availability.  

Hourly Rate: $21- $28 per class, DOE; all part-time employees receive a free premium family membership with employment. 



Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.  
  • Approved Criminal Background Investigation check.
  • Current personal training or group fitness certification required. ACE, NASM, ACSM, or similar certification accepted.  
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/First-Aid/AED certification or completion of certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience adapting exercises and instruction for diverse populations.  
  • Previous experience in group fitness instruction preferred. 
  • Experience teaching multiple fitness disciplines, including Total Body Conditioning, Strength and Interval Training, Mat Pilates, Barre Fitness, Yoga, and Cycling is preferred.  


Job Duties

  • Lead fun, safe, and effective group fitness classes for participants of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels. 
  • Demonstrate exercises and provide clear instruction, motivation, and modifications to meet individual needs. 
  • Create an inclusive and positive environment that encourages participation and supports healthy lifestyles. 
  • Monitor participants and respond appropriately to safety concerns, injuries, or emergencies. 
  • Prepare and maintain fitness spaces and equipment before and after classes. 
  • Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and health and safety standards. 
  • Communicate professionally with participants, staff, and supervisors. 
  • Help create a positive experience that encourages participants to stay active and engaged in their wellness journey.
