At Utah Valley University, teaching in the Digital Media program provides an opportunity to inspire and prepare students for careers in an evolving and innovative industry. Adjunct instructors bring professional expertise into the classroom, helping students develop the creative, technical, and critical-thinking skills needed to succeed in areas such as digital design, multimedia storytelling, content creation, video production, social media, emerging technologies, and other digital communication fields. This role allows instructors to deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences that connect industry practices with academic objectives while supporting student achievement and career readiness.
The position offers a collaborative and dynamic educational environment where instructors work alongside faculty and staff dedicated to student success. Adjunct instructors play an important role in fostering an inclusive, engaging classroom experience, mentoring students, and encouraging creativity, innovation, and professional growth. By sharing real-world knowledge and maintaining high academic standards, instructors help students build the skills, confidence, and portfolios needed to thrive in the digital media industry. Summary of Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned Digital Media courses in accordance with department curriculum, learning outcomes, and university policies, using effective instructional strategies and current industry practices.
  • Develop and maintain course materials, assignments, assessments, and instructional content that support student learning and engagement in digital media disciplines.
  • Evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate academic records, and submit grades in accordance with university deadlines and procedures.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment by mentoring students, holding appropriate office hours or consultation times, and connecting students with university resources when needed.
  • Maintain proficiency in current digital media technologies, software, industry trends, and best practices to ensure course content remains relevant and career-focused.
  • Collaborate with department faculty and leadership on curriculum implementation, program initiatives, accreditation requirements, and other departmental activities as assigned.
  • Comply with university policies, professional standards, and academic requirements while performing other instructional duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's or an associate's degree and two years of experience related to the summary of duties; OR any combination of education and/or experience totaling four years.
