Description

The University of Rochester Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full-time Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Medicine-Psychiatry physician to serve as an attending physician treating acute medical conditions in individuals with mental illness and/or addiction issues. This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team together with psychiatrists, psychologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and social workers. The position would be in the Division of Medicine in Psychiatry Service working on two adult medical inpatient units (one unit with 20 beds and the other unit with 10 beds). This position offers an opportunity for a seven day on–seven days off schedule. If interested, work in the outpatient Primary Care Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry providing ongoing medical care to individuals with mental illnesses could be an option in combination with acute inpatient work.

This full-time position includes a medical staff appointment at Strong Hospital and an academic appointment with University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry at the rank of Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience and accomplishments, and ample opportunities for faculty development within a robust tradition of mentorship. Teaching and clinical supervision of psychiatric residents and fellows, medical students and other trainees is an integral part of this position, along with involvement in process improvement and program development. As part of this role, the physician will have a primary appointment with the Department of Psychiatry and a secondary appointment with their respective departments of Medicine or Family Medicine, depending on postgraduate training.

Compensation includes an excellent, nationally competitive base salary, with bonus/moonlighting opportunities, loan forgiveness program, annual CME allotment, and generous benefits package through the University, including retirement program and tuition benefits.

Title: Total Compensation Range:

  • Sr. Instructor $220,400 - $284,944

  • Asst Professor $231,800 - $306,173

  • Assoc Professor $254,874 - $336,035

  • New York State License

  • Completion of an ACGME residency

  • Unrestricted DEA

  • ABMS certified preferred, but board eligible is also acceptable
