$17/hr. and a Free YMCA Membership

Monday and Thursday 4pm - 815pm, Saturday 9am - 1pm 


Under the direction of the Coordinator or Director the Youth Sports Instructor will help teach all levels of gymnastics in a positive atmosphere that will allow the participants to learn and grow. Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach gymnastics skills to kids from beginners to advanced.
  • Set up, breakdown and proper storage of equipment in gym closet.
  • Supervision of gymnastics participants at all points of the day .
  • Generate new ideas to implement into the daily schedule.
  • Supervise and help train volunteers
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Act as a role model for YMCA Core Values.
  • Help create a climate that fosters YMCA goals and a fun, engaging atmosphere for all participants.


Requirements


  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires practical and tecnhnical knowledge of all levels of gymnastics.
  • Must be motivated, energetic and able to communicate with participants and parents.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is also required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior, falls).
  • Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations.
  • Ability to move around the gym to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
  • Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.
