Job DescriptionWe are seeking a
hands-on Instructional Designer to support training in a fast-paced, safety-critical automotive environment. This role blends
instructional design, LMS administration, content development, and learning analytics, with a strong focus on execution.
This is an
execution-focused design role for someone who can rapidly translate evolving business needs into effective, learner-centered experiences. The ideal candidate is comfortable designing within ambiguity, iterating quickly, and working directly with stakeholders to build and refine training in real time.
You will play a key role in designing, updating, and deploying training that supports
process-driven, SOP-heavy operations, while ensuring learning solutions are clear, engaging, and aligned to real-world application.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Design & Content Development- Design and develop effective learning experiences for Vehicle Testing operations, focused on clarity, retention, and real-world application
- Translate technical, SOP-driven content into structured, learner-friendly training materials
- Build and update eLearning in Articulate Rise, incorporating interactions, visuals, and engagement strategies
- Apply instructional design principles (e.g., chunking, reinforcement, assessment alignment) to improve training effectiveness
- Rapidly revise and iterate training content based on changing processes, feedback, and operational needs
Assessment & Learning Effectiveness- Design and develop quizzes, assessments, and answer keys aligned to learning objectives
- Ensure assessments accurately measure knowledge transfer and operational readiness
- Continuously refine learning materials based on performance data and feedback
LMS Administration & Learning Deployment- Administer and maintain training content within Cornerstone LMS, including uploads and configuration
- Manage end-to-end learning deployment, from content creation to LMS publishing
- Ensure training is accessible, organized, and properly tracked within the LMS
Reporting & Learning Analytics- Pull and analyze LMS data (completions, learner progress, performance metrics)
- Translate data into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders
- Support recurring reporting cadences, including weekly and twice-weekly updates
- Use data to inform continuous improvement of training effectiveness
Training Operations Support- Support the broader training lifecycle, including documentation, file management, and coordination
- Partner with stakeholders to identify learning needs and deliver solutions under tight timelines
- Operate effectively in a high-visibility, agile environment with shifting priorities
Required Qualifications- Experience in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, or a related field
- Hands-on experience developing eLearning using Articulate Rise
- Experience designing assessments aligned to learning objectives
- Experience working with an LMS (Cornerstone preferred)
- Ability to translate technical or complex content into clear, learner-friendly training
- Experience analyzing and communicating learning data and outcomes
- Strong organizational and execution skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Ability to manage rapid iteration, shifting priorities, and compressed timelines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications- Background in technical or SOP-driven training environments
- Experience in automotive or engineering
- Technical writing experience
- Experience maintaining and improving existing curriculum vs. building net new
- Familiarity with safety-critical training environments
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive needs, job, audience, and task analyses to determine training requirements.
- Engage with client stakeholders and SMEs to gather essential information and provide valuable feedback throughout the project.
- Conduct independent research to anticipate business needs and validate findings with account teams and clients.
- Facilitate and actively participate in meetings to gather information for learning design and development.
- Design and develop learning resources in various formats, including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation.
- Create engaging instructor-led training using multimedia products and innovative training methods.
- Design interactive web-based training modules with exercises, videos, and animations.
- Utilize creative writing skills to develop video scripts, scenarios, and case studies that enhance the learning process.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring efficient project management.
- Stay updated with the latest instructional design technologies and strategies, and explore AI tools for enhanced design and content creation.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Systems Design or a related field (e.g., Instructional Design, Instructional Technology) is required.
- Solid understanding of instructional design principles and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively, and a track record of successfully overcoming challenges.
- Experience with digital learning platforms, instructor-led training, eLearning development, and content development is preferred.
- Proficiency in rapid development content tools such as Captivate, Articulate, or Lectora is an asset.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and resolve problems efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and concepts effectively.
