Job description

Position Summary:ย The Instructional Assistant will support students with related activities in the classroom.ย  This role offers the opportunity to provide one-on-oneย  and small group support during lessons and activities, foster meaningful connections, and contribute to a positive learning environment. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with classroom preparation, organization, and supporting effective classroom management.

ย Reports To: Teacher & Principal

ย Knowledge, Skills & Implementation

  • Follows school calendar, present for all student days
  • Good communication skills, following written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to relate to students with compassion
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity and accountability when gathering information and reporting
  • Demonstratesย  patience when dealing with students
  • Engaged and present during class sessions
  • Provide instruction on using technology and digital resources
  • Lunch and Recess Duties
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.

ย Instructional Leadership

  • Guide and assist students with lessons, activities and technology tasks under the direction of the teacher.
  • Reinforce concepts that were taught in classroom instruction.
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and lessons.
  • Adapt and modify coursework under the direction of the teacher.
  • Attend field trips and other community activities implemented for students.
  • Assist with implementing intervention support plans for students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the teacher or principaland other administrative staff as designated by the superintendent
