Position Summary
The School of Nursing at San Diego State University is seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable Instructional Support Technician to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the launch and ongoing operations of the new nursing program at the SDSU-Chula Vista satellite location. Serve as a central resource for faculty, staff and students to support the daily operations of the School of Nursing's simulation lab and ensure a positive educational experience for undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Maintain and troubleshoot simulation equipment and lab technologies while supporting effective, hands-on learning experiences.
- Lab & Program Operations: Coordinate, schedule, and oversee daily lab and simulation operations to ensure safe, secure, and efficient environments.
- Procurement & Vendor Management: Manage purchasing processes, vendor relationships, and equipment selection aligned with program needs and budget.
- Inventory & Asset Management: Oversee inventory systems, equipment tracking, and supply levels to ensure continuous lab readiness.
- Logistics Organization: Coordinate receiving, shipping, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance for lab operations.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative, reporting, and project support to sustain program operations and decision-making.
Position Information
- This is a part-time (0.8 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at the SDSU School of Nursing satellite facility in Chula Vista.
Department Summary
The San Diego State University School of Nursing serves as a vital backbone for California's healthcare workforce, directly tackling the state's nursing shortage by preparing high-quality professionals at every level of practice. Operating across San Diego, Imperial Valley, and Chula Vista, the school provides diverse routes for students-from those just entering the field to registered nurses earning advanced degrees and the newly established Doctor of Nursing Practice.
By blending rigorous clinical training with a deep commitment to serving diverse communities, the school ensures its graduates are ready to meet rigorous hiring standards of Magnet designated hospitals. Through strong partnerships with major local health systems and a focus on expansion into underserved areas, the program remains a regional leader in training to grow their own compassionate, ethical nurse leaders who are equipped to improve patient care and advocate for health equity. The School is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Education and Experience
Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Key Qualifications
- Two years of experience providing instructional or healthcare support services in an academic or healthcare environment.
- Proficiency using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience ordering, maintaining and/or managing medical and healthcare-related supplies and equipment.
- Familiarity with standard healthcare supplies and equipment.
- Experience as a licensed medical assistant, CNA, LVN, or corpsman/clinician.

Compensation:
Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,184) for highly qualified candidates.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,184 - $6,096 per month (Step 1 - Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
- Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
