Job description

Stop! Before you decide to apply for this job, I want you to ask yourself a few questions. And I want you to really think about your answers, because your honest responses to these questions will help you determine if Dealers Wholesale is right for you.

  • Do you take ownership of your responsibilities and commitments, both to yourself and to others? Or do you pass the buck, point fingers, and make excuses?
  • Do you go out of your way to collaborate with others and be of service to others? Or do you work in silos, and choose to serve your own agenda before the larger team?
  • Do you proactively take the initiative to solve problems that arise? Or are you content to point out the problem and wait for someone else to solve it?
  • Do you drive toward excellence in everything you do, and work to be better every day than the day before? Or do you settle for mediocrity rather than continually improving?

At Dealers Wholesale, Character and Core Values come first. We can teach you how to be a great Installation Assistant on our Field Operations Team, but we cannot teach you how to be a Right Person for our Culture.

If it sounds like our standards are high, it’s because they are! If you are attracted to being a part of an elite team that Strives for Excellence every single day, then I invite you to hit the Apply button. If you are unwilling to be held Accountable to these standards, then I invite you to keep looking – the right job is out there for you!

What we bring to the table:

  • We work for a Cause. Dealers Wholesale and the products we sell provide Warmth, Comfort, and Security. We are intentional about giving back to the communities in which we do work.
  • We encourage and enable growth and development. In the first half of 2021, we promoted 10% of our team members to the next step in their career with us!
  • We provide a family atmosphere. People here care about one another, and it shows.
  • Accessible and approachable leadership team. It goes beyond an “open door policy” – it’s more like a “come on in!” policy.
  • We believe in a people-first culture. Our organization makes decisions with the individual people who work here in mind.
  • We have fun! Weekly push-up challenge, popcorn Fridays, family picnics, annual chili cook-off, etc.!
  • We are stable. We have been in the Indianapolis community since 1963, we have survived recessions, fires, and COVID-19 – and we continue to grow!
  • Competitive benefits package, paid holidays, flexible work arrangements, and much more.

What you bring to the table:

  • You confidently answer “Yes!” to the first half of each question above.
  • You thrive under pressure, and handle stress with a positive attitude; you focus on “how we can” rather than “why we can’t.”
  • You have a keen eye for detail, are confident in your ability to multi-task.
  • Personable and quality communication skills.
  • You are confident that you can accurately learn and understand your way around electric, gas, and wood burning fireplace installation.
  • A set of mechanical and craftsman skills earned from a background in the building/construction industry.
  • The ability to regularly lift heavy materials, often weighing up to 125.
  • Comfortable with the idea of standing on a rooftop and climbing a 40-foot ladder.

What you will do:

A business that revolves around the installation of quality fireplaces would fail without quality fireplace installers. In order to succeed, Dealers Wholesale needs a Field Operation Team filled with qualified Installers, Install Assistants, and Service Technicians.

This role’s mission is to accurately and carefully, load/unload & install products for customers in excellent condition. You must address all customers in a courteous, respectful manner at all times. In addition, you will work with an installer to learn about all aspects of installing, paperwork completion, communication, product knowledge, and fireplace install manual interpretation. You are expected to exhibit the core values of the company - to Own It, Work as One Team, Find a Way, and Play to Win.

  • Load and inspect all products to be installed for that day.
  • Review all paperwork before leaving warehouse to insure you have all the correct information needed for installs.
  • Ensure absolute customer satisfaction by facilitating operational cooperation and direction within the division.
  • Drive safely at all times when in company vehicle, once they pass defensive driving course and road test.
  • Follow all company policies regarding driver safety and distracted driving.
  • Inspect jobsite for safety.
  • Safely bring all products necessary for install into area where work will be completed.
  • Follow all standard work for installation of fireplaces.
  • Complete all work for each job while still on site. Take appropriate photographs as outlined in standard work procedures.
  • Once day’s work is completed, return to warehouse.
  • Turn in paperwork to Field Service Manager to review.
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as independently.
  • Uphold high value for customer service relationships.
  • Exemplify Integrity, Passion, Professionalism.

Safety Assessment/Typical Working Conditions

Our staff of dedicated professionals has done work for high rise office buildings, shopping malls, state correctional facilities, churches, schools, housing projects, etc. We have a complete service and installation department that services and installs all our products with our own full time employees.

In 2016, Dealers Wholesale was acquired by a Private Equity Firm called The Firefly Group. Under their leadership, Dealers Wholesale has implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) and made very strategic changes to our Core Values, Mission, and short/long-term growth goals.
Jimmy Rayford, the CEO of Dealers Wholesale, took the helm in January 2020, and was quickly able to inspire trust and loyalty from the organization. Jimmy's transparent leadership style and emphasis on a people-first culture has had tremendous positive impact on the organization in a very short period of time. He continues to elevate the Talent and the Employee Experience, and is working to fulfill our Vision of being a game-changing force in the Construction industry.
In early 2022, Dealers Wholesale acquired ClearPath Connections - a Milwaukee-based access control and security organization.
