JMT is seeking an Inspector's Aide to join our Florida Construction Management division. The Inspector's Aide will be responsible for conducting on-site inspection of work in progress and performing assignments while assisting the Senior Inspector and Inspector in the performance of their duties. The successful candidate will receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
  • Gathers and maintains record documents
  • Makes field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills
  • Candidates must be able to perform mathematical calculations, follow technical instruction, read plans and specifications
  • Ability to assist and if needed, escalate issues to higher-level Inspectors
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience
  • Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain FDOT Intermediate MOT Certification prior to field work and additional certifications prior to performing independent testing

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
