What are Inside Sales Associates?

Inside Sales Associates are sales professionals who primarily conduct sales activities remotely, rather than meeting clients face-to-face. They use phone calls, emails, and online communication tools to generate leads, nurture relationships, and close deals. Their responsibilities often include prospecting for new customers, following up on leads, providing product information, and maintaining customer records. Unlike outside sales roles, inside sales associates work mainly from an office or remotely, leveraging technology to reach potential clients. This role is common in industries such as technology, manufacturing, and services where products or services can be effectively sold without in-person meetings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Inside Sales Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Inside Sales Associate, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge, and effective communication skills, typically supported by a high school diploma or bachelor's degree. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software like Salesforce, as well as proficiency in email and telephony systems, is essential. Outstanding interpersonal skills, resilience, and the ability to build rapport quickly enable you to excel in customer interactions and achieve sales targets. These skills and qualities are crucial for consistently generating leads, closing deals, and fostering long-term customer relationships in a competitive sales environment.

How does an Inside Sales Associate typically collaborate with the marketing and customer success teams?

Inside Sales Associates frequently work alongside marketing to follow up on leads generated through campaigns and to provide feedback on lead quality. They also interact with customer success teams to ensure a smooth transition for new clients and to address any concerns that might arise during the sales process. This cross-functional collaboration helps ensure that prospects receive a consistent experience and that the inside sales team is aligned with broader company goals.

Our History:

Founded in 1960 by "Charlie" Cummins and "Chub" Wagner, Cummins-Wagner began as a one-product, two-employee company in a one-room office. Without a well-recognized brand product line, their commitment to customer service was the company's impressive strength. This commitment to customer service allowed the company to grow and attract significant product lines. Recognizing that ownership inspired the dedication that resulted in their customer-driven business's success, they established an ESOP* and sold the company to their employees in 1985.

Today, the company's strength comes from the product lines we represent and from the total dedication of over 250 Employee Owners to the principle of customer satisfaction. We appreciate the value of our impressive team and look forward to welcoming you!

*As an "ESOP" company with 100% of the common stock universally and exclusively owned by the Employee Stock Ownership Trust (ESOT), employees are motivated to work for the long-term success of the company to a degree unmatched by those of our competitors. ESOP companies generally outperform non-ESOP companies. For more information on ESOPs, visit www.esopassociation.org.
