JOB TITLE: 

Insect Lab Technician

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION: 

Zoology & Physiology

Job location: Biological Sciences Building (Coop Laboratory), University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY

Pay rate or range: $15/hour

JOB PURPOSE: 

Technicians assist in the processing of insect samples collected for avian research conducted in the Wyoming Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit at the University of Wyoming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

-help isolate insects from soil samples in a laboratory settings

-assist with insect identification and measurements

-maintain a clean and safe lab environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

-must demonstrate strong attention to detail and care in work

-must communicate effectively 

-must be able to work, problem-solve, and manage time independently

Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

-prior experience working in a laboratory setting

-actively pursuing a career in biological sciences/natural resources

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPLICABLE TO CAREERS: 

-experience working/problem-solving independently

-experience working with biological samples in a laboratory setting
