Job description

Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis - Capital One Auto

As a Manager, you will work for a company that continues to innovate and change banking for good! You will partner with business customers to drive strategic business direction while being part of a Finance team that is continuously striving to improve well-managed processes. Managers help our Finance and business leadership "see around corners" to proactively manage our businesses.

If you thrive at the intersection of complex data, executive storytelling, and high-stakes regulatory strategy, this role will give you the platform to make a definitive impact.

The ideal candidate will provide financial leadership and strong influence, communication, and problem solving competencies to effectively:

  • Design Robust Analytical Frameworks: Go beyond the surface of the data. Build clear methodologies and conduct deep-dive portfolio diagnostics to uncover PPNR trends and P&L impacts, translating raw metrics into the actionable insights that inform leadership's action plans.

  • Drive Executive Storytelling: Transform complex financial models into compelling, "camera-ready" narratives. You will present data-driven insights to senior audiences, providing the analytical foundation required for real-time strategic debates.

  • Act as a Strategic Partner: Collaborate seamlessly across the business to quantify the financial implications of ongoing initiatives. You will propose and utilize advanced analytical methods to help leaders optimize overall business performance.

  • Navigate Ambiguity with Precision: Thrive in a dynamic environment by transforming open-ended questions and ad-hoc requests into structured methodologies and clear project plans under tight deadlines.

  • Elevate the Team: Serve as an analytical sounding board and mentor to junior analysts, raising the technical bar and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

General Responsibilities:

  • Drive CCAR Analytical Support: Lead the comprehensive modeling and analysis for regulatory stress testing and capital planning, providing critical insights on volume validation, scenario testing, and strategic overlays.

  • Model Strategic Sensitivities: Act as the analytical engine for our business partners. Leverage our modeling infrastructure to run complex P&L sensitivities, translating potential business decisions into actionable financial intelligence for senior leadership.

  • Illuminate Portfolio Risks & Opportunities: Provide leadership with total transparency into portfolio health through surgical comparisons of Frontbook and Backbook performance, origination volumes, and outstandings.

  • Manage Complex Deliverables: Independently prioritize and drive large bodies of analytical work to completion, seamlessly managing stakeholder expectations and complex relationships within strict regulatory and business timelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years' experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination

  • At least 1 year of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Finance

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

  • At least 6 years experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination

  • At least 3 years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function

  • At least 1 year of direct or indirect people management experience

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python, alongside experience with modern data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, QuickSight) and familiarity with emerging AI tooling to drive analytical rigor and clear business insights
