As the Assistantย Innkeeper at the Inn at Castle Hill,ย you'llย provide top-notch service and hospitality in an iconic settingย where guests can explore the historic structures, beautiful beaches, and the lush landscapes of the Crane Estate.ย
The Role:ย
As the Assistant Innkeeper,ย you'llย support the Innkeeper withย overall management and hospitality of the Inn at Castle Hill,ย including daily operations and support functions.ย ย
Specifically,ย you'llย be responsible for:ย
Managementย
- Stewardย theย Inn building and Tavern, including scheduling and overseeing all renovations and routine maintenanceย ย ย ย
- Oversee the management of the Inn and ensure that all standards are met and all procedures followed to ensure safety of inn staff and guests.ย ย ย
- Develop new standards to enhance guest service, foodย andย beverage service, and efficient operations of the Inn.ย ย ย
- Develop foodย andย beverage programs.ย ย
- Prepare and cook gourmet breakfasts,ย cocktails,ย and beverages as needed.ย ย
- Oversee front desk operations, fielding inquiries and ensuringย efficient reservations, check-in,ย andย check-out.ย ย
- Oversee Tavern events, includingย corporate retreats, wedding buyouts,ย dinners,ย and corporate meetings.ย
- Work with brides, grooms, eventย planners,ย and other tavern users to ensure that their needs are met.ย ย
- Oversee and perform tavern set-upย andย breakdown.ย ย ย
- Assume room cleaning and maintenance roles whenย appropriate staffย is not available. Check guestrooms andย common areasย for cleanliness, presentation, and readiness for guests. Wash, dry, fold, and storeย laundryย as necessary.ย ย ย
- Attend property staff and local committee meetings, as assigned, toย maintainย strong and effective communications.ย ย ย ย
- Work with other Trustees staff members in the region as well as volunteers and committees.ย ย ย
- Supervise and train front desk staff, servers,ย and housekeepers and be able to perform their tasks when necessary.ย ย ย
- Develop the social, technical,ย and analytical skills of the staffย asย appropriate forย their positions.ย ย ย
- Create and manage weekly staffย scheduleย for Innย staffย andย assistย theย Innkeeperย withย payroll management as well as hiring new seasonal staff.ย ย ย
- Ensure the staff actย inย a professional, courteousย manner.ย
- Act as Innkeeper in absence of Innkeeper.ย ย
Guest Servicesย
- Greet all visitors to the inn in a professional, welcoming mannerย and create an atmosphere of warmth and excellent service forย guests.ย
- Promote Trustees membership and link guests to the work of The Trustees,ย ย ย
- Introduce guests and visitors to the services of theย Inn as needed.ย ย ย
- Handle all telephone calls inย friendly, appropriate manner.ย ย ย
- Respond to guest's needs and answer guest's questions and concerns with objectivity and graciousness.ย ย ย
- Provide Concierge Service, helping toย direct guests to area attractions and securingย dining reservations.ย ย ย
Financial Management and Marketingย ย
- Ensure accuracy of guest invoices and payments.ย
- Accurately post all cash, creditย card,ย and other payment information.ย ย
- Prepare end-of-day financial statements; reconcile room sales and foodย andย beverage sales.ย ย ย
- Purchase all food, beverage,ย housekeeping,ย and other supplies according to the needs of the Inn and inventory levels.ย ย ย
- Prepare and manageย theย budget and follow budget guidelines for all expenses.ย
- Ensure annual revenue goals are met.ย ย
- Develop annual marketing and advertising plan forย theย Inn, including management of Inn's media presence, seasonalย -eblasts, and targeted networking.ย ย ย
- Manageย theย Inn's social media channels,ย website, online reviews, and online presence.ย Assistย and collaborate with overall Crane Estate social media initiatives as needed.ย ย
- Develop and market opportunities to enhance guests'ย experience atย theย Inn and other Trustees properties through packages,ย collaborations,ย and special events.ย ย ย ย
- Collaborateย with areaย Chambers of Commerce, MOTT, North of Boston, CAVB, NEIRA, Select Registry, and other tourism organizations to promote visibility of the Inn and the Trustees.ย
This is aย full-time, exemptย position (40ย hoursย per week)ย reportingย directly toย the Innkeeper.ย Please note that the Assistantย Innkeeperย is provided withย Trusteesย housing andย is required toย live on site.ย
Requirements
Whatย You'llย Need:ย
Skills and Experience:ย
- 3 to 5ย years of experience in hospitalityย or hotel operationsย
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experienceย
- Excellent communication and relationship skillsย
- Ability to effectively collaborate with Trustees staffย ย
- Excellent management skills, with experience leading and supporting a teamย ย
- Experience managing business social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, Facebook), including content creation, scheduling, and audience engagementย ย
- Ability to create and execute basic marketing strategies that promote the inn, drive bookings, and reflect the property's brand through engaging visual and written contentย
- Ability to live on property.ย
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration (preferred).ย ย ย
- ServeSafeย Certification (preferred)ย
- TIPS Training Certification (preferred)ย
Eligibility Criteria:ย
- Current authorization to work in the United States - a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.ย
- A valid driver's license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees' driving policy. [if needed]ย
