Job description

The Mammography Technologist is a Full Time, Regular position working various shifts and locations based on department need including weekends. This position includes a $5.00 per hour weekend shift differential.

Summary: Responsible for the operation of dedicated mammography equipment to perform radiologic procedures. Typical duties including operating equipment, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Responsible for obtaining the highest quality radiological exams under the direct or indirect supervision of a radiologist per established ACR and Inland Imaging guidelines and protocols. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Maintains high standard of technical skills in modality by:
    • Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic studies
  • Performs mammograms to ACR standards
    • Appropriate views for particular exam as per radiologist/department protocol
    • Ability to perform acceptable alternatives when patient condition requires them
    • Ability to physically assist patient to obtain high quality mammogram exam
  • Applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis
  • Maintains working knowledge of mammography equipment
  • Completes exam paperwork, coding for billing, patient data for tracking, patient history
  • Maintains stocked, organized and clean working area including equipment, technologist core area and exam rooms                                                                         
  • Responds to requests from patients on information, scheduling or other departments
  • This position may be required to work in a hospital, urgent care or clinical setting
  • Must physically be able to position and maneuver patients to perform mammographic studies.   
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education through professional journals, approved seminars, etc.
  • Ability to consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages.
  • Adheres to departmental standards and personnel policies by demonstrating professional demeanor in conduct and appearance.
  • Follows company departmental standards and personnel policies by using good teamwork and communication skills to help identify concerns and solutions, assisting where needed to ensure a smooth functioning department.
  • Performs other duties as required by displaying team spirit and self-growth, accepting and performing other projects and responsibilities, and requesting other projects and responsibilities.
  • Quarterly quality assurance meeting attendance is required for this position.
  • Attendance is a requirement for this position.
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed.

Qualifications:  

  • Education: AA Degree is required. Accredited Radiologic Technologist Program or equivalent on the job experience required necessary to pass the ARRT (R)
  • Experience:
    • One to three years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist – desired
    • MQSA Compliant (15 mammography specific CME’s within last 36 months; 200 mammograms performed within the last 24 months; 40 hours of initial digital mammography training; 8 hours initial training in additional mammographic modality used (tomo)
    • Anatomy and medical terminology
    • Understanding of mammography exams
  • Licensure:   Must maintain current Washington State Certified Radiologic Technologist License
  • Certifications:  Registered AART (R), (M) Certificate
    • Must pass ARRT (M) boards within 12 months of Technologist being trained, working independently and signed off with a current competency checklist
    • Current CPR/BLS required
  • Computer Skills: Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Outlook; Microsoft Office Suite; Workday; Medicalis: PACS; MagView; Internet/Intranet, Webex
  • Background Check:
    • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
    • In order to comply with provisions set forth in Sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act, all new employees of Inland Imaging Clinical Associates, LLC will be checked against the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG).  Employees must not be included on this list.  
  • Drug Test: Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
